Wear Lots of Socks for Downs Syndrome Awareness!

Wear Lots of Socks for Downs Syndrome Awareness!

We plan to support the Down Syndrome Association on Thursday 21st March.

Trisomy 21 is the technical term for Down Syndrome. There are 46 chromosomes (or 2 pairs of 23 chromosomes) that make up the DNA of every cell in our body. People with Down Syndrome have an extra chromosome – 47 chromosomes in their DNA. The extra chromosome gives them some unique and special characteristics.

Children with Down Syndrome learn to sit, walk, talk, play and do most other activities, only somewhat later than their peers without Down Syndrome. People with Down Syndrome attend school, work and contribute to society in many delightful ways.

Why Socks?? Apparently chromosomes look a little bit like socks!

On Thursday 21st March join with us to wear odd socks or lots of socks however you like! A donation of £1 per pupil is suggested. All donations will be forwarded to the Down Syndrome Association. Thank you
